fundamentalz - half day

FUNDAMENTALZ (10 week)

Ages (7-12)

Welcome to the Freestyle Ski FUNdamentalz program. This widely successful program provides a SAFE and FUN on-snow learning environment for young skiers.

FUNdamentalz is a great place to meet new friends, have fun in a safe environment, and learn freestyle skiing skills. (Freestyle skills are divided into Blue/Black levels, which are outlined in the FUNdamentalz Report Card.)

FUNdamentalz participants must be strong parallel skiers, able to ski blue/black terrain confidently and without assistance, able to load and unload the chairlift independently, and able take care of their own equipment.

FUNdamentalz athletes will be grouped based on both skill level and which friends they would like to ski with. Friend requests should be listed on the registration form. Limit of one friend per registrant. Please arrange friend requests with your friend in advance of registration.

This 10-week half-day program starts January 3/4, 2025 and runs for 10 weeks with a day full of fun competition at the end. All SS Freestyle Ski programs finish with our annual Hot Doggin’ Moguls Jam and Skillz Rodeo (March 7/8, 2025).

GTEAM - FULL DAY

GTEAM (10 week) and GTEAM Plus (14 week)

Ages (8-12)

Welcome to GTeam, SS Freestyle skier female empowerment program! GTeam is an all-day program for those that identify as female.  Participants must be strong intermediate skiers and must be able to ski parallel on a blue run, able to load/unload the ski lift independently, and take care of their own equipment. Gteam focuses on all freestyle disciplines (moguls, slopestyle and air) and has been designed to offer young girls who already love to ski, the opportunity to participate and progress through the sport of freestyle in a fun, safe, and encouraging team environment. Athletes in this program will participate in various sessions throughout the season focusing on goal-setting, self-esteem, and team building, and will be encouraged to participate in local Freestyle event.

Choose Saturday or Sunday starting at 8:30. Three is an unsupervised lunch break mid-day. Session is complete at 2:50pm.

FREESTYLERZ - FULL DAY

FREESTYLERZ (10 week) and FREESTYLERZ Plus (14 week)

Ages (8-12)

The Freestylerz program is designed to build lifelong skiers! The program is aimed at girls and boys who have surpassed the Black Diamond level of the Fundamentalz program and want to continue to advance their FREESTYLE skiing skills while having a ton of fun. Athletes in this program are typically aged 8-13 yrs old.

Freestylerz athletes receive technical training in Freeskiing, Slopestyle (terrain park), Moguls, and Big Air. Freestylerz athletes have the option to attend various freestyle and freeski competitions if they choose and everyone is welcome to attend the SS Freestyle year-end Hot Dog Skillz Rodeo and Moguls Jam event!

Groups are organised by skill/ability level and we will try to keep friends together whenever possible. 

Choose Saturday or Sunday starting at 8:30. There is an unsupervised lunch break mid-day. Session is complete at 2:50pm.

FZ FREERIDE

FZ FREERIDE SUNDAY

Ages (8-12)

The FZ Freeride program is designed to build lifelong skiers! The program is aimed at girls and boys who have surpassed the Black Diamond level of the Fundamentalz program and want to continue to advance their FREERIDE skiing skills while having a ton of fun.

FZ FREERIDE athletes receive technical training in Freeskiing, All Mtn Moguls, and Big Air. There may be the odd park lapp but emphasis is using freestyle skills to shred the whole mountain.

Freestylerz athletes have the option to attend various freestyle and freeski competitions if they choose.

FZ Freeride runs Sundays starting at 8:30. There is an unsupervised lunch break mid-day. Session is complete at 2:50pm.

This 14-week program starts December 6/7, 2025 weekend.

Jr. Development Team

A very similar program to Development team but for younger skiers that are progressing up from Freestylerz and/or Gteam ages 11/12. 

An Invitation from the Head coach is required prior to signing up for this team.  An Assessment period may be required for coaches to get to know the athletes better and for athletes to see if it’s a program they will have success in. If you did not receive an invite and are interested in this program, please contact hello@ssfreestyle.com and we will have a coach contact you to determine if this is the correct program for you.

This program is intended for athletes who are interested in increasing their skills, progressing, and competing. And have sights on earning a spot on the Comp Team.

Athletes in this program will need to meet the benchmarks set out for the team.  For detailed information on the performance factors required for athletes on this team click here.

This program runs Saturdays full day & Sundays half-day (AM) throughout the winter. There are full day Sunday and Thursday options available as well.

  • Saturday is Freestyle Focused – moguls, jumps, rails

  • Sunday is Freeski flavour – all mountain skiing, and more jumping

  • Thursday trainign varies based on what is available.

Development Team

The “DTeam” is a TEEN Freestyle and Big Mountain program that introduces athletes to competitive Team environment.  Athletes in this competitive program commit one or two days per weekend to their training and are motivated to compete in regional, or provincial level events in freestyle skiing and/or IFSA junior free ski events.  

An Invitation from the Head coach is required prior to signing up for this team.  An Assessment period and application maybe required.  This program is intended for athletes who are interested in increasing their skills, progressing, and competing. And have sights on earning a spot on the Comp Team or Competint in Freeride events. Athletes in this program will need to meet the benchmarks set out for the team.  For detailed information on the performance factors required for athletes on this team click here. This program runs both Saturdays and Sundays throughout the winter.

Performance leads to Excellence - TEEN

Comp Team

Athletes on the Comp Team are making a serious commitment to developing their freestyle skills. They are competing in freestyle events and are committed to training both on and off the mountain.  Comp team athletes compete in Moguls, Slopestyle and Big Air.  Competing in all disciplines at Timber Tour is mandatory.  Athletes attending Canada Cup and/or Jr. Nationals may specialize from time to time.  In the 2025/26 season athletes 15 or under may try strive to compete in BC Winter Games in Rossland.  

After an assessment period the Head Coach invites athletes to become members of the team. This is a year-round commitment to all our programs including air bag/water ramps, trampoline, dryland, as well as extra training days over and above our normal program during the fall, winter and spring.  Contact [email protected] if you have questions or would like to apply for this program.
