Winter Training and Competition facilities

SS Freestyle is proud of its tradition of providing world leading Freestyle Ski and Snowboard training facilities:

  • The competition Moguls Course is 200 meters in length and can handle 3 to 5 lanes wide. The slope is an average of 22 degree and has two sets of jumps. The jumps are competition ready and provide a safe area for freestyle skiers to learn and perform their tricks. The moguls course is located under “Southern Cross” on “Turn Around Run”.

  • The Intro Inverts Jump site is perfect for younger skiers and anyone doing their first inverts or upright spins on snow. This site has a 4 m step over jump with a 15m landing that is very soft. The site is located next to the lower Moguls Course on skiers Right (“Turn Around Run”). Often this site is hiked by groups. Athletes can get a good 15 to 25 jumps in one session.

  • The Big Air Site has evolved over many decades since it was built to accommodate aerials competitions in the late 1980’s. The site now has a modern step over knuckle. The in run is over 35 m long, the jumps are built to simulate L & XL park style jumps. The landing seemingly goes forever. The Big Air site has hosted Jr. Nationals and Timber Tour events over the years. Big Air is mainly used to progress athletes skills safely and quickly from Air Bag to on snow. The Big Air site is located on lower “Christmas Bowl”.

  • The winter Air Bag site is located below and on skiers right of the Big Air Site (“Lower Christmas Bowl”). This facility boasts one of Canada’s best facilities for flat air bag training both winter and summer. The Katal Air Bag is 20m length X 16m wide X 3m height.

  • Terrain Park - Silver Star Mountain Resort boasts one of the best Terrain Park scenes in Canada. So that bodes very well for SS Freestyle Winter programs and its continued success. The park is known for its creative rails and many size jumps for all levels to safely progress. Click here to check out the Silver Star Mountain parks.
