Freestyle Head Coach moves on

Silver Star Freestyle would like to thanks Cole Melin for excellent service as Head Coach over the last two seasons. Cole and his partner Phoebe are currently in Italy travelling while Cole pursues his Sky Diving career.  Thanks again Cole for leading our Competitive Freestyle program this last two season and all the best while you chase your dreams abroad!

Head Coach and Big Mountain Coach Search

The search is on for coaches that can take the fast growing SS Freestyle Competitive program to the next level.  Program Director Wade Garrod has been tasked to build the coach team for 2019-20 ski season and beyond.

"The competitive SS Freestyle ski and snowboard programs have been growing and developing to new levels over the last few seasons.  The focus is on building better skills now so athletes will achieve success and results in the future.  This next team of coaches will be a mix of existing SS Freestyle Coach talent and probably some new talent as well.  My goal is to build a cohesive coaching team that will support the dreams of SS Freestyle athletes.  Our teams will continue to be athlete centered and coach driven with the support from the excellent volunteers, families and local partners.  It's in our best interest to foster an already developed performance culture with in the club."

SD 22 Snowsports Academy

The 2018-2019 Vernon Snowsports Academy Freestyle athletes are back in the gym at Vernon Crossfit with Jeremy Meredith and his team of coaches.  The next activity for these athletes is to do some Parkour and trampoline training.  The Snowsports Academy has partnered with Kelowna Air House to provide this training.   By participating in Parkour athletes will develop the skills to manage crashes that will inevitably take place from time to time. Knowing how to crash is essential in all action sports to prevent injuries. Of course the goal is always to build perfect skills and trampoline is the base for this.  Air House has an excellent group of coaches and world leading facilities to train freestyle athletes.

SS Freestyle would like to welcome the following freestyle athletes to the 2019-20 SD 22 Snowsports Academy program:

Makenna Christensen, William Erickson, Melody Fagerlund, Ella Garrod, Tate Garrod, Caleb Johnson, Mason Land, Luca Robbiati, Alex Sewell, Logan Stewart, Mason Swanson
